The Story

 How Parkway Art was born

Creative Choices for Everyone

I’m Jennifer Wilson, the proud owner and creative visionary behind Parkway Art. Ever since I can remember, my heart has been deeply invested in design, long before I understood that “design” was simply a more elegant term for “problem-solving.” My passion lies in bringing ideas to life, transforming abstract concepts into tangible creations. Despite over two decades focusing my career on graphic design and website development (not to mention a background in fashion design), I’ve carried a dream in my heart since the tender age of five: to open a community art studio.

In 2009, as a mother of two young children, I felt a strong desire to leave a lasting legacy for my kids and our community, one that would convey the profound importance of this lifelong “hobby” of mine. It all began as a side venture, crafting marketing materials and websites, but that art studio concept remained steadfast in my thoughts.

As life unfolded, one thing remained true: Arts, crafts, design, and creativity have the remarkable power to transform lives and foster connections among people. Even so, I allowed the demands of motherhood and the need for a “day job” to take precedence over Parkway Art, narrowing my focus to small local events and close friends. It was the perfect choice for that moment in time.

Then, I moved a few times and nearly forgot about my aspirations. Partially because I had also been doing what I love in my day job, a blessing that not many of us get to experience. For that I’m grateful.

Nevertheless, the dream of being my own boss never truly left me. But in order for it to become a reality, I had to believe it was possible. And that brings us to today.

My childhood dreams may have evolved since kindergarten, but at the core of Parkway Art is the unwavering belief that everyone can benefit from hands-on creative activity. Providing access to art space and materials, free from the distractions of daily chores like laundry, can work wonders for the soul.
